The warrants are for preventive detention, issued by the 17th Criminal Court of the Capital, and the accused were initially taken to the Arapiraca Police Station. They will then be transferred to the prison system.

RECIDIVIST

The former mayor of Girau do Ponciano, Fábio Rangel Nunes de Oliveira, had already been arrested in the city of Arapiraca in July, in compliance with an arrest warrant issued against him, requested by Gecoc.

The arrest was carried out at his home in Arapiraca. The execution of the warrant was overseen by prosecutors Luiz Tenório and Kléber Valadares. Fábio did not resist and was taken to the Public Prosecutor's office in Maceió.

According to investigations by the Public Prosecutor's Office, the former mayors of the municipalities of Girau, Mata Grande, and Passo de Camaragibe allegedly participated in a criminal scheme involving the purchase of medications using fraudulent invoices.

In the irregularities investigated by Gecoc, it was proven that José Jacob Gomes Brandão, Fábio Rangel Nunes de Oliveira, and Márcia Coutinho Nogueira, former mayors of these municipalities, signed bidding procedures that benefited RR Distribuidora, authorizing payments of public funds to said company, without any goods having been supplied or services rendered.

According to investigators, the damage caused exceeds R$ 3 million.
