The merger between PSB and PPS "lost some momentum"

The decision by the Federal Chamber to maintain the continuity of electoral coalitions ended up cooling negotiations regarding the merger between PSB and PPS; "We have a majority in both parties. What changed was that Congress did not vote to end coalitions. If it had changed, it would have accelerated things, but since there was no alteration, the negotiation lost some momentum. But we will continue the process," said the vice-governor of São Paulo, Márcio França, and one of the main defenders of the merger; The Pernambuco directorate, headed by Governor Paulo Câmara, is expected to sign a manifesto against the merger; the governor of Paraíba, Ricardo Coutinho, and 12 other regional directorates are also expected to sign the document.

Pernambuco 247 - The decision by the Federal Chamber to maintain the continuity of electoral coalitions ended up cooling down negotiations regarding the merger between the PSB and the PPS, although the two parties continue negotiating with each other. "We have a majority in both parties. What changed was that Congress did not vote to end the coalitions. If it had changed, it would have accelerated things. But since there was no change, the negotiation lost some momentum, but we will continue the process," said the vice-governor of São Paulo, Márcio França, and one of the main advocates for the merger.

The new scenario tends to favor the São Paulo wing of the PSB in convincing the reluctant party directorates. The movement against the merger between the two parties comes mainly from the Pernambuco wing of the party, which fears losing influence since it no longer has its most prominent representative, former governor Eduardo Campos, who died in a plane crash last year.

The Pernambuco state branch, headed by Governor Paulo Câmara, intends to sign a manifesto, along with the governor of Paraíba, Ricardo Coutinho, and 12 other regional branches, expressing its dissatisfaction with the merger.

According to the former president of the PSB, Roberto Amaral, the merger with the PPS is being orchestrated by França to strengthen an alliance with the PSDB of Governor Geraldo Alckmin (SP) to contest the state government succession. In return, the PSB could support Alckmin's candidacy for President of the Republic in 2018.
