Four suspects accused of stealing intimate photos from Carolina Dieckmann's computer in March were arrested by police yesterday, after an attempted extortion. According to the investigation, carried out by a specialized group from the Cybercrime Repression Unit (DRCI) of the Rio Civil Police, the theft allegedly used an email as bait (spam), which, when opened, allowed the installation of a program that enabled the hackers to access the actress's computer. In total, 60 files were stolen.
The main suspect in the computer hacking and theft of the actress's photos is Leonan Santos, 20. Diego Fernando Cruz, 25, is believed to have been the first to post the photos online. Pedro Henrique Mathias is believed to be the owner of the website that published the photos. The identity of the fourth person involved has not been revealed.
In the absence of a specific law for cybercrimes, those involved will be indicted under the penal code for theft, aggravated extortion, and defamation, according to the Civil Police.
