Ceará247 - The next meeting of the Northeast Governors' Forum will take place in Fortaleza next week, under the leadership of Governor Camilo Santana. The meeting is scheduled for Monday at the Abolition Palace. This is the second meeting of the governors since the coup that removed President Dilma Rousseff. The last meeting was in May in Alagoas, without the participation of representatives from Michel Temer's interim government. It is expected that there will also be no such participation in the Fortaleza meeting, given that the governor of Ceará is a member of the Workers' Party.
Following the last Forum meeting, the governors submitted a document to the interim government outlining 10 measures considered fundamental for the economic recovery of the states, including: participation in discussions on fiscal adjustments that impact states and municipalities; support for the State Debt Extension Project; approval of Constitutional Amendment Proposal (PEC) 152/2015, which creates the New Special Regime for Court-Ordered Payments; approval of Constitutional Amendment Proposal (PEC) 159/2015, which deals with Judicial Deposits for the Payment of Court-Ordered Payments; and approval of Constitutional Amendment Proposal (PEC) 128/2015, which prohibits the creation and expansion of expenses for states and municipalities without the presentation of the necessary revenue sources, in addition to measures to overcome the underfunding of the Unified Health System (SUS).
The creation of the Northeast Governors' Forum aims to build a regional agenda, from an integrative perspective with the country. The first meeting was held in December 2014 at the João Pessoa Convention Center, discussing topics such as health, security, education, infrastructure, fiscal policy, among others.
