The railway workers in São Paulo decided in the early afternoon today (3) to suspend the strike on the lines of the Companhia Paulista de Trens Metropolitanos (CPTM) that began at midnight. The workers will await a hearing at the Regional Labor Court (TRT), scheduled for Thursday of next week (11).

The operation of lines 7 Rubi, 10 Turquesa, 11 Coral, and 12 Safira, operated by companies associated with the São Paulo Railway Workers' Union and the Central do Brasil Railway Workers' Union, should occur gradually until the end of the afternoon this Wednesday. In a statement, CPTM confirmed the return of railway workers to work.

The other lines, operated by workers affiliated with the Sorocabana Region Railway Workers Union, were not affected by the strike.

The Regional Labor Court (TRT) reported that CPTM (São Paulo Metropolitan Train Company) has filed a request with the court to have the strike declared abusive. No date has been set for the hearing regarding the strike.

Yesterday, in a court hearing, the company maintained its two proposed wage adjustments for railway workers: the first is an 8,25% increase in salaries and benefits. The unions reduced their request to 9,29% for salaries and benefits. CPTM did not change its proposal.
