Fernando Pessoa receives tribute in the month he would have turned 124 years old.

Agência Brasil - In June, a special program will honor Fernando Pessoa's birthday at Sesc Carmo, in São Paulo. The program includes an exhibition and a theatrical performance. showsA chat, a conversation, and even a special lunch will celebrate the 124th anniversary of the Portuguese poet's birth. "Pessoa crossed the seas with his works. What we want is to honor his work and what it meant for world literature," declared Humberto Peron, responsible for the event, which begins on the 4th with the exhibition. Person from Lisbon.

The idea, according to him, is to provoke the public with a very varied program about the poet who created several personalities (heteronyms) to sign his work. Among the best known are Alberto Caeiro, Ricardo Reis, and Álvaro de Campos. “The idea is to make people have a new and different perspective on Fernando Pessoa. Through some interactions, they will acquire information and make a new interpretation of his works,” said Peron.

On June 25th, for example, the group from the Pontedera Foundation, Italy, will present the show. LisbonStarting at 14 PM, at Largo São Bento, in the center of São Paulo, the 11 actors and musicians of the group, who have already performed in several countries, will move around the area on bicycles, in a tribute to the Portuguese poet. "During this performance, they will recite poems by Fernando Pessoa, inviting people to interact with them," explained Peron.  

Between June 11th and 28th, the public will be able to closely observe the sounds produced by typical Portuguese instruments, such as the Portuguese guitar and the fado viola. The event Notes from Portugal It takes place from Monday to Friday, from 12:15 PM to 14:15 PM.

Also on June 13th, the Sesc Carmo restaurant will be serving a Tripe Porto StyleThe dish, named after a poem of the same name by Pessoa, consists of white beans, tripe, pig's feet, bacon, Calabrian sausage, carrots, tomatoes, onions, bay leaf, parsley, olive oil, salt, and pepper. It will be served hot, according to the poet's preference.

"One day, in a restaurant, outside of space and time, / They served me love like cold tripe. / I delicately told the missionary of the kitchen / That I preferred it hot, / That tripe [and it was Porto style] is never eaten cold.", Pessoa said in his verses.

There is also a special program aimed at senior citizens. Fado: To Listen and Dance To is an Show A variety show aimed at senior citizens, featuring music of various rhythms and performances of traditional Portuguese dances.
