RIO DE JANEIRO, July 30 (Reuters) - Coach Luiz Felipe Scolari maintained the core of the Confederations Cup-winning team in his squad announcement on Tuesday for the friendly against Switzerland on August 14th in Basel.
Among the 20 players called up by the coach for the match, Brazil's first since winning the title against Spain at the Maracanã, only left-back Maxwell, from Paris Saint-Germain, did not play in the competition in June in the country. The player replaces Filipe Luis, from Atlético de Madrid.
Felipão called up all 11 starters from the championship-winning team, despite many having only returned from vacation in recent days and still being at the beginning of their season with their clubs in Europe.
Brazil and Switzerland will face each other on August 14th at Jakob Park stadium in Basel. After the game against the Swiss, the Brazilian team will return to the field in September to face Australia and Portugal.
