February 1 (Reuters) - Coach Luiz Felipe Scolari called up midfielder Jean, from Fluminense, this Friday to replace Hernanes, who was ruled out of the Brazilian national team's friendly against England due to a head injury.
Hernanes, from Lazio, suffered the blow in his team's last match on Tuesday against Juventus, and left the field on a stretcher.
The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) reported that "after a conversation between the head of the Brazilian national team's medical department, José Luis Runco, and the player Hernanes, it was decided that he would be withdrawn from the squad for the friendly match against England on February 6th."
Jean will travel with the entire Brazilian delegation on Sunday. The game will be played in London and will mark Felipão's debut as Brazil's coach.
