Agency Brazil - The 8th Caixa Home Ownership Fair received around 46 thousand people and moved more than R$ 886 million, only on the first day of the event, which started yesterday (4) and ends tomorrow (6), in five cities - Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Recife, Rio de Janeiro and Salvador.

In Brasília alone, yesterday the number of visitors reached 6.929 and today (5), until 14 pm, 6.367 people passed through the Ulysses Guimarães Convention Center. Caixa expects to receive a greater number of visitors on the last day of the event. Last year, a total of 41 people went to the fair in the federal capital.

Within the 15 square meter area of the fair, visitors don't even need to look for home and apartment sellers. They are everywhere, always with brochures in hand about the properties offered at the event, which total 15.

Broker Elienai Pinho, 42, says that at the fair she can make more contacts with new clients. "It's an opportunity for both us brokers and the clients to find investments. Here we can attract clients to do good business," she said.

Bank employee Abdias Junior Ribeiro, 33, accompanied by his wife and daughter, spent hours at the real estate fair looking for a house for his family, who currently live in rented accommodation. "I came to research and ask questions," said the bank employee. Now, with the contacts he made, he intends to close deals next week, "with more peace of mind."

Public servant Ana Cláudia Trindade, 41, and her husband, firefighter Ricardo Pereira de Souza, 40, said they walked around the housing fair quite a bit to see the properties and better understand mortgage financing. But they complained that, with their income, they couldn't get a property through the Minha Casa, Minha Vida (My House, My Life) program. "Our income isn't high, but we don't have FGTS [Severance Pay Guarantee Fund], subsidies, nothing," emphasized Ana Cláudia.

Educator Célia Alves complained that, at 59 years old, she was unable to finance a property, even with a down payment of R$ 200. "Financing isn't for everyone. I couldn't get it because of my age," she said.

Edite Alice Fernandes, a 60-year-old seamstress, left the fair hopeful of buying a two-bedroom apartment. "I did a simulation, talked to real estate agents. Now we'll see if it works out," she said.

After the first five cities, the fair will be held between May 18th and 20th in Curitiba, Fortaleza, and São Paulo. From the 25th to the 27th of this month, the event will take place in Uberlândia, Campinas, and Porto Alegre. The last cities will be Belém and Florianópolis, between June 8th and 10th.

In total, 430 new, used, and off-plan properties will be offered. Caixa Econômica Federal's home financing lines have repayment terms of up to 30 years. Interest rates can vary from 4,6% to 9% per year. Financing can cover up to 100% of the property value.
