"Familiocracy" threatens the Green Party's discourse of change.
According to state representative and federal candidate for the Green Party (PV), Freire Júnior, it is difficult for the PV, after its Movement for an Alternative of Change, to accept the candidacies for federal deputy of Dulce Miranda (PMDB), wife of the gubernatorial candidate Marcelo Miranda (PMDB), and Irajá Abreu (PSD), son of the candidate for re-election to the Senate, Kátia Abreu; “We have a discourse of change, of strengthening institutions, and this situation is generating a lot of discomfort, due to the interpretation that there is a family-based system involved. And this does not strengthen or reinforce our discourse. I even think it is detrimental,” said Freire.
Tocantins 247 – Just two days after the alliance between the Green Party (PV) and the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party (PMDB) was confirmed, with Congressman Marcelo Lélis (PV) nominated as the vice-governor candidate on the ticket with Marcelo Miranda (PMDB) running for governor, the differences in positions between the leaders of the two parties are beginning to become public.
State Representative and candidate for federal deputy for the Green Party, Freire Júnior, confirmed to Tocantins 247 On Wednesday, the 2nd, it was reported that the candidacies for federal deputy of Marcelo Miranda's wife, Dulce Miranda, and the son of Senator Kátia Abreu (PMDB), Irajá Abreu (PSD), who is running for reelection, are generating discomfort and dissatisfaction among the candidates for federal deputy of the coalition.
With Lélis at the head of the Movement for an Alternative of Change, the Green Party (PV) defended the idea of renewing political forces in meetings in 106 municipalities, traveled more than 20 km, and now fears it will not have arguments to refute accusations of nepotism within the coalition in which they have formed.
“We are on a platform of change, of valuing and strengthening institutions, and this situation is generating a lot of discomfort, even due to pressure from voters, due to the interpretation that can be made that there is a nepotism involved. And this does not strengthen or reinforce our discourse. I even think it is detrimental,” said Freire.
According to Freire Júnior, Dulce Miranda's candidacy, although he acknowledged its electoral potential, is the most difficult to defend. "It gives the impression of a family project, to the detriment of the group's project, of political strength. It's something that can be avoided. We just can't lose the message," he argued.
The Green Party candidate downplayed the situation for Irajá Abreu, who was elected in the 2010 election when Kátia was not a candidate. "Today he holds office, but now his mother is a candidate, and mother and son will be on the same platform," he said.
The Green Party candidate also said that he will discuss the situation with the gubernatorial candidate Marcelo Miranda.
