Relatives of murdered radio broadcaster meet with Director-General João Carlos Gorski on Wednesday afternoon (14) to request action regarding the behavior of the then head of the 4th DP, Manuel Borges, accused of unofficially taking and even falsifying the testimony of one of the accused in the crime in an attempt to benefit the main suspect of being the mastermind, the notary Maurício Sampaio
The essay - With the aim of demanding action from the Civil Police regarding the case of delegate Manuel Borges, sports columnist Manoel de Oliveira and lawyer Valério Luiz Filho meet with the General Delegate of the Civil Police of the State of Goiás, João Carlos Gorski, on the afternoon of this Wednesday (14).
At the meeting, which will take place at 15 pm at the Civil Police headquarters in the Aeroviário sector, the father and son of radio broadcaster Valério Luiz, who was murdered on July 5, 2012, will demand clarification on several unresolved issues.
According to Valério's family, on April 4th, Detective Manuel Borges, then head of the 4th Police District of Goiânia, took a statement from Marcus Vinícius, one of those accused of participating in the crime, outside of the criminal proceedings and even altered what the defendant had said.
According to the columnist's family, the fact that the testimony was obtained illegally ended up being used by the defense of businessman Maurício Sampaio, accused of being the mastermind behind the murder.
Even though he was removed from the 4th Police Precinct after the incident, Manuel was reportedly working normally at the 11th Police Precinct in the capital. "He [Manuel] cannot continue working as if nothing happened. We want to know what measures will be taken in light of this fact and we want to hear from the chief of police," emphasizes Valério Luiz Filho.
The columnist's family also points out that the prosecution has already filed an appeal against the Habeas Corpus granted to Maurício, which could even lead to his return to prison, as the appeal is expected to be judged this week.
