"Our bloc lacks dialogue and meetings, which is necessary for us to plan actions."

This is according to federal deputy Fábio Reis (PMDB), in an interview with 247; he complains about the lack of space for the PMDB in the government, says that the party could elect up to three federal deputies and five state deputies in 2014 in Sergipe; but says it is "unacceptable that a secretary or director of the PMDB works to elect parliamentarians from other parties."

"Our bloc lacks dialogue and meetings, which is necessary for us to plan actions."

Valter Lima, from Sergipe 247 - Federal deputy Fábio Reis (PMDB) states that there is a lack of unity of thought within the governing bloc – both within the PMDB and among the parties that make up the support base of the Marcelo Déda (PT) government. "We are in a phase of 'every man for himself, God for all'," he points out. And he makes a complaint: "What is unacceptable is that a secretary or director, appointed by the PMDB, is working to elect deputies from other parties."

In an interview conducted via email, the congressman reiterated his call for more representation for the PMDB party in the state government, stating that the party is capable of electing three federal and five state representatives. Regarding the possibility of Jackson having João Alves' support, Fábio Reis said it was something that "could be taken into consideration."

Sergipe 247 - Representative, when you make the following statement, "We need to unite, consolidate our relationships, and make decisions together," what do you specifically mean? Is this unity lacking within the PMDB today? Or is this unity lacking among the parties that are currently supporting the Déda government?

Fabio Reis - In both cases. What I observe today, and this is a personal opinion, is that we are in a "every man for himself, God for us all" phase, unfortunately. There is a lack of frequent dialogue and bloc meetings where we can all give our opinions and plan actions together.

247 - What strategies were discussed with the party president, Senator Valdir Raupp, regarding the 2014 election?

FRI - The national priority is to elect a greater number of federal and state representatives. In Sergipe, the PMDB will also prioritize Jackson's candidacy for governor. We will not give up on that. We are in a position to elect three federal and five state representatives.

247 - Your statements that the PMDB is underrepresented in the State Government have had a significant impact. What positions does the party wish to occupy with the reform? Is there any specific ministry that the PMDB desires?

FRI - This is an issue that will be debated internally between the state president and the governor. Jackson himself has already publicly stated that the governor recognizes that the PMDB deserves more space; after all, we gained new mayoralties and a federal deputy, and lost a very important secretariat in political coordination. It is necessary to reorganize forces so that all parties are represented equally. Another unacceptable thing is that a secretary or director, appointed by the PMDB, is working to elect deputies from other parties.

247 - What do you have to say about the criticism being made by the president of the PTB, Edivan Amorim, against Jackson Barreto?

FRI - I think this doesn't contribute anything to the political class. We need to discuss the idea and put personal aspects aside. This adds nothing from a political standpoint.

247 - Are you in favor of an alliance between Jackson and Mayor João Alves Filho (DEM) for the 2014 election?

FRI - I am led by Jackson Barreto. If, within the current political context, it is good for Sergipe and for the unity and strengthening of Jackson Barreto's candidacy, it is something that could be taken into consideration. But, at the moment, I don't have a formed opinion on the matter.
