Exports in Tocantins grow 43% in the 3rd quarter.

The trade balance showed a positive balance compared to the same period in 2016; the good results come mainly from the 43% increase in the state's exports, totaling US$ 836,6 million; imports grew by 82% compared to last year, resulting in US$ 143,3 million; the state of Tocantins stands out in the export of soybeans (US$ 694 million), frozen beef (US$ 65 million) and corn (US$ 26 million).

Tocantins 247 - The results of Tocantins' Trade Balance in the 3rd quarter showed encouraging figures regarding the state's economy. The data analysis is compiled in a study conducted by the Tocantins International Business Center (CIN/TO) of the Federation of Industries of the State of Tocantins (FIETO), demonstrating that, from January to September 2017, the Trade Balance had a positive balance of 37% compared to the same period in 2016. The positive results stem mainly from a 43% increase in the state's exports, totaling US$ 836,6 million. According to the study, imports grew by 82% compared to last year, totaling US$143,3 million. In the third quarter, August was the month with the best results, both in exports and imports, at US$98 million and US$15 million, respectively. Tocantins follows the national and regional trend of growth in the trade balance and already represents 7% of the export volume and 2% of the import volume of the Northern region.

The state of Tocantins stands out in the export of soybeans (US$ 694 million), frozen beef (US$ 65 million), and corn (US$ 26 million). Of the exported products, 83% are food and beverages destined for industry, and 11% are non-durable consumer goods. The main consumers of these products are China (60,29%), Spain (8,76%), Hong Kong (4,45%), the Netherlands (3,09%), and Thailand (2,65%).
