Agency Brazil - The growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the first quarter of this year confirms that the recovery of economic activity has been quite gradual, according to the Central Bank (BC).

According to a statement released in the early afternoon, "domestic demand continued to be the main support for the economy, with household consumption being stimulated by the moderate expansion of credit, and by job and income generation."

The Central Bank also understands that solid fundamentals and a robust domestic market constitute a distinguishing feature of the Brazilian economy. "Therefore, even in the face of the complex international environment, the outlook points to an intensification of the pace of activity throughout this year," the note says.

GDP, which is the sum of all goods and services produced in the country, grew 0,2% in the first quarter of this year, compared to the previous quarter, totaling R$ 1,03 trillion. The data was released today (1st) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
