Goiás247 - The United States wants to open a new channel for investment and partnerships with companies and the government of Goiás. This information was relayed by the American ambassador to Brazil, Liliana Ayalde, during a visit to Anápolis and Goiânia over the weekend. "We intend to stimulate partnerships with Goiás, encouraging cultural exchange and attracting trade missions," she said.

Welcomed and accompanied by the Secretary of Industry and Commerce, William O'Dwyer, during the visit, Liliane revealed that she intends to visit the Goiás clothing manufacturing hub and the Anápolis Agroindustrial District (Daia) on her next visit, in October, with the aim of attracting renewable energy industries to the state. "I am impressed with the potential of this state," she said.

This was the first visit of the United States ambassador to Goiás since she assumed her diplomatic post in Brasília in August 2013. The visit lasted nine hours and included two informal events. She arrived in Anápolis around 9 am on Saturday, was in Goiânia at noon, and only returned to Brasília at 18 pm. Six security agents accompanied the ambassador.

“She thanked us for all the information and said she intends to return in two months,” revealed Secretary William O’Dwyer. “The visit was informal, but with great potential to impact the local economy in the short and medium term. The ambassador was delighted with everything she saw. We believe new partnerships will be developed soon,” he stated.

Liliana received data from the secretary regarding Goiás' trade balance with the United States. In the first half of this year, exports totaled US$119,3 million, mainly soybeans, ferronickel, and sugar. Imports, on the other hand, totaled US$314,9 million, with a focus on inputs for the pharmaceutical industry and fertilizers.

“Imports from the United States to Goiás are investments that boost the state's industry. We believe we can advance further with exports. We want to position Americans as the main buyers of Goiás products going forward. Good relations with the ambassador can help us achieve this goal,” he assessed.

Liliana also informed that the embassy's commercial department will now be in contact with the Secretariat of Industry and Commerce (SIC). According to her, the State of Goiás will now position itself among the main destinations for American missions visiting Brazil. Currently, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, and Paraná are the states most visited by American businesspeople in Brazil.

She also confirmed her presence at the "GO to Goiás" event, to be held by the Secretariat of Industry and Commerce (SIC) in Brasília in September.
