Students call for protest for free public transportation.

A group called Frente de Luta GO will march next Thursday (6), at 17 pm, starting from a gathering at Praça Universitária; they demand the return of the Ganha Tempo program (which allowed three trips within a 2h30 period with only one ticket) and also demand the implementation of the Universal Free Pass in the Capital, promised by Mayor Paulo Garcia (PT) with or without the participation of the State and other municipalities in the metropolitan region of Goiânia.

Goiás247 - The Facebook group called Frente de Luta GO is organizing a demonstration for next Thursday (6), at 17 pm, at Praça Universitária, for improvements in public transport in Goiânia.

The students want the return of the Ganha Tempo program (which allowed three trips within a 2h30 period with only one ticket) that was discontinued by Mayor Paulo Garcia, and they will also demand the full implementation of the free pass program, promised by the Workers' Party member at the height of the protests in June of last year.

Paulo Garcia even said that if the state government and the municipalities of the Metropolitan Region did not help in implementing the benefit, he would pay for it himself.

Free Pass for Individuals. But, so far, the project hasn't gotten off the ground.

The municipalities of Aparecida de Goiânia and Senador Canedo have already warned that they do not have the financial resources to join the program. Paulo Garcia's Free Pass is comprehensive, unlimited in the number of trips, and without any social criteria.

Behind the scenes, secretaries in Marconi Perillo's government claim that it is nearly impossible to implement the program in the way Paulo Garcia promised. Last month, the state government increased the number of students covered by the Free Pass program from 8 to 25. The government program covers young people from families benefiting from social programs.
