"Choice is part of the democratic process"
The statement comes from the Chief of Staff, Carlos Pestana, commenting on the outcome of the PDT Convention, which opted for its own candidate for governor of Rio Grande do Sul; "The PDT has been a great partner during these almost three years of government, especially because the party's history has a lot of programmatic alignment with our project. We respect this choice, which is part of the democratic process," he said.
Government of Rio Grande do Sul - In a press conference held this Saturday (07), at Palácio Piratini, the Secretary of the Civil House, Carlos Pestana, commented on the result of the Convention of the Democratic Labor Party (PDT), which opted for its own candidacy in the 2014 election and, consequently, the handing over of the positions he holds in the state Executive. Pestana regretted the decision and highlighted the important role played by the party in the current administration.
"The PDT has been a great partner during these almost three years of government, especially because the party's history has a lot of programmatic alignment with our project. We respect this choice, which is part of the democratic process. The idea is that from now on a deadline will be established for the transition," he explained.
Regarding the bills currently being processed in the Legislature, Pestana stated that he is confident that the PDT deputies will not change their position regarding the proposals. "The bills were drafted together with the party's state secretaries and deputies. I am confident they will be approved," he emphasized.
According to Pestana, the Secretary of Health, Ciro Simoni, informed that this Monday morning (9) he will personally deliver, at the Civil House Office, his request to leave the position. In addition to the Health Secretariat, the PDT also holds the leadership of the Secretariats of Sport and Leisure and the Office of Mayors and Federal Relations.
