Época insists: ACM Neto wants Geddel in the Senate.

The former minister himself has repeatedly stated that he will not be a candidate for any other elected office besides governor next October; unless he is bluffing; but there was a new attempt today; Felipe Patury, a columnist for Epoca.com, says that Mayor ACM Neto (DEM) wants Geddel to run for Senate on the ticket that, according to the journalist, will be headed by former governor Paulo Souto.

Bahia 247 It is still unclear where columnists in São Paulo and Brasília are getting the information that the national secretary of the PMDB and president of the party in Bahia, Geddel Vieira Lima, will be a candidate for senator on a ticket that may be headed by former governor Paulo Souto, of the DEM party, or by any other party.

Geddel himself has repeatedly stated that he will not be a candidate for any other elected office besides governor next October. Unless he's bluffing. But since the future cannot be predicted, what the source says is what counts. And the PMDB member always repeats the same thing.

The final rejection of the possible alliance was made yesterday. "Either I run for governor or I don't run for anything." See here.

And the latest attempt comes from Felipe Patury, a columnist for Epoca.com. See the article below.

ACM Neto wants a ticket with Souto for governor and Geddel for Senate.

The mayor of Salvador, ACM Neto, is working to assemble an opposition ticket to contest the governorship of Bahia. It would be headed by former governor Paulo Souto, of the DEM party. The vice-governor position would be filled by businessman João Gualberto or congressman Antonio Imbassahy, both from the PSDB party. The Senate candidate would be former congressman Geddel Vieira Lima, of the PMDB party. The mayor believes this is the strongest team to unseat the Workers' Party (PT), which has governed the state for seven years. The opposition intends to finalize the ticket by January 31st.
