SP 247 – The body found in the Olympic rowing course at the University of São Paulo (USP) in Cidade Universitária, in the West Zone of the city of São Paulo, on the morning of this Tuesday (23), is that of student Victor Hugo Santos. The young man from the graphic design course at Senac disappeared in the early hours of Saturday (20) at a party celebrating the 111th anniversary of the Grêmio Politécnico at the USP Velodrome. The director of the Department of Homicides and Protection of Persons (DHPP), Elisabete Sato, informed that it will be investigated whether there was a crime or an accidental death.

The delegate from the 93rd DP (Jaguaré), Paulo Bittencourt, who is investigating the case, went to the UPS Olympic rowing course in the morning. "A relative came here and confirmed it," he told G1. He also said that, apparently, there are no marks of aggression on the body.

Police will investigate whether the young man consumed alcohol and used drugs. The student's father told police that he had learned from his son's friends that the young man used drugs when he went to parties.

According to the technical director of the UPS Sports Practice Center, José Carlos Simon, who is also a rowing instructor, there is no possibility that the student's body fell into a stream near the university and, as a consequence, was carried by the current to the Olympic rowing course.

The official stated that the only way to reach the racecourse would be to jump over the gate and access, which would be closed during the event. However, students said it is possible to enter through a gap on the side of the gate.

Controversy

The young man's family is questioning the police action during the party. This is because at least five people reported on Facebook that they saw the student being assaulted by event staff. On the other hand, according to a representative of COS Group, the company responsible for security at the event, there were no reports of fights at the party. The representative also said that no one needed to be removed from the celebration, which featured Marcelo D2 and CPM22 among the performers.
