Goiás247 - Representatives from nine companies in the Spanish region of Catalonia confirmed this Thursday, during an official visit to Goiás, that they intend to invest in the state in the areas of infrastructure, logistics, and the environment. This information was relayed by the head of the delegation of Spanish businesspeople visiting Goiânia and Anápolis, with the goal of expanding investments in the country, Josep Maria Buades.
“We are aware that Goiás is one of the fastest growing states in Brazil. For this reason, we encourage our companies that are already in Brazil to expand their investments here,” highlighted Josep Maria, during a meeting on the 10th floor of the Pedro Ludovico Palace.
Josep Maria did not reveal any specific business deals that are expected to come to Goiás, nor the projected value of these investments, but he emphasized that more than 400 Catalan companies currently operate in Brazil, totaling an investment of US$20 billion. "We want some of these investments to also be in Brazilian states where the economy is doing well," stressed the representative of the delegation.
The Secretary of Industry and Commerce, William O'Dwyer, who received the delegation of businesspeople during their visit to the capital, estimated that Catalan companies could bring an investment of US$150 million in the medium term, mainly in the area of logistics and infrastructure. “Negotiations with Catalonia are at an advanced stage. We believe in investments, especially in infrastructure in Goiás,” he said.
This is the third time that representatives from the Catalan region have visited Goiás this year. In April, representatives of the Catalan government came to Goiânia, and a month ago it was the turn of members of the Catalan Development Agency. The events are organized by the Secretariat of Industry and Commerce (SIC) in partnership with the Federation of Industries of the State of Goiás (Fieg) and the Commercial and Industrial Association of the State of Goiás (Acieg).
The delegation was in Anápolis this Friday to learn about the city's cargo transportation infrastructure and also the Anápolis Agroindustrial District (Daia).
