Business owners are demanding a response from the State Secretariat of Social Defense (Seds) regarding more effective actions to combat violence in the region. Last week, two restaurants in Ponta Verde and Jatiúca, in Maceió, were robbed, resulting in a stampede and chase.
Alagoas247 - Recent cases of robberies at commercial establishments in the lower part of the city prompted a meeting between members of the Brazilian Association of Bars and Restaurants in Alagoas (Abrasel/AL) and public security officials. Business owners are seeking a response from the State Secretariat of Social Defense (Seds) regarding more effective actions to combat violence in the region.
On that occasion, Abrasel recalled that, last week, two restaurants in Ponta Verde and Jatiúca, in Maceió, were robbed, causing a stampede and a chase.
And the cases don't stop there: a pizzeria located in Jatiúca was invaded by two armed men last Saturday (11). According to information from the Military Police, the alleged criminals announced the robbery, taking all the money that was in the cash register and also helmets from the delivery drivers who work at the establishment.
The president of Abrasel, Eutímio Brandão Júnior, stated that he requested more police presence in the neighborhoods of the lower part of the city.
“The Secretariat was supposed to present a new action that should be implemented. We need greater intensification of security in these places because the situation is not easy,” revealed Eutímio Júnior, highlighting that a group of associates and directors of the entity attended the meeting.
The press office of the Secretary of Social Defense has informed that a new meeting will be scheduled to discuss the matter more broadly with other members of the secretariats, such as the head of the Tourism department, Daniele Novis.
