Tocantins 247 - Governor Marcelo Miranda (PMDB) gave an overview of his first 60 days in office at the Palácio Araguaia this Friday, the 6th. In a video of just over 3 minutes, the head of the Executive criticized the previous administration, announced that the first emergency actions are being taken to "put the house in order," and revealed the names of the programs that will be implemented during his term.

In his speech, Marcelo Miranda highlighted the desire for change among the people of Tocantins, who elected him governor with 360.640 votes in the 2014 election. The PMDB member took the opportunity to criticize the previous administration. “We won the vote of confidence from the people of Tocantins who wanted real change, who could no longer tolerate the misgovernment, the neglect, and the lack of respect for public property. As well as the inhumane treatment in healthcare, the violence, and the lack of public safety,” he stated.

Marcelo Miranda also mentions the Tocantins Institute of Pension Management (Igeprev), which has been questioned regarding irregularities in investments. “I cannot fail to mention the shameful Igeprev scandal, as one of the biggest crimes of corruption and embezzlement. A disgrace to our state,” says the governor, who adds: “We will move forward. Justice will judge and punish the past.”

The programs of Marcelo Miranda's government were also announced. Among the goals are projects focused on the recovery of health, public safety, and affordable housing. The PMDB member also highlighted the "Housing for All" program.

Education was highlighted by Marcelo Miranda as a priority for the government. "This is also one of the pillars of our development plan, through the Education for All program," the governor stated, adding that the area will also receive attention from President Dilma Rousseff (PT). The announced program aims to implement model schools for comprehensive education, vocational training in partnership with the National Program for Access to Technical Education and Employment (Pronatec), and regional agricultural schools, in addition to promoting a major change in higher education with the "Unitins Closer to You" project.
