The 2017 ENEM exam is the first to be administered on two consecutive Sundays. Other new features include changes to the order of the subject areas, rules for fee waivers and absence justifications, the option to request additional registration time, a printed attendance certificate for participants, personalized exams, and the electronic point detector.

This year's exam also marks the end of the Specific Assistance for Sabbath Observers, the High School Certification, and the publication of "Enem by School." New additions include Specific Assistance for Other Special Conditions and the Video Exam Translated into Libras (Brazilian Sign Language).

ABSENCES

Absence in 2017 will impact future editions of the ENEM exam. Participants who were exempt from paying the registration fee this year and did not attend the exams need to justify their absence with an official document. Justification will be required during the 2018 registration period.

Those who do not have a justification for their absence and meet the exemption criteria will not be entitled to the benefit in the future. The exception is high school graduates from the public school system, who are automatically exempt. The rule, announced in early 2017 along with other changes to the ENEM exam, is one of the measures taken by the Ministry of Education and INEP to reduce the financial losses to the public coffers due to absenteeism.
