Elias Vaz decides to ask Cei to investigate Comurg

City councilor presents new accusations against the company at this Friday's session (22) at the City Council; in addition to the already denounced super salaries, Vaz found that the city hall has already spent almost enough on rental contracts with companies that collect garbage to buy two fleets; in 16 months, Comurg transferred between R$ 410 thousand and R$ 523 per vehicle; company drivers would be driving outsourced trucks, although the contract stipulates that the contracted company must provide the labor.

Goiás247_ Councilman Elias Vaz (PSB) will request the establishment of a Special Commission of Inquiry (CEI) to investigate irregularities at Comurg after presenting new allegations against the company at the City Council session this Friday at 10 am. The councilman found that the city has already spent almost enough on rental contracts with companies that collect garbage to buy two fleets. The bidding process, held in August of last year, stipulated a value of R$209,500 per truck. In the 16 months that the rental contracts have been maintained, the city has already spent R$523,000 per truck for the same model of vehicle rented from Metropolitana (which provides drivers in three shifts) and R$410,000 per truck rented from Lopac (without drivers). "This is harmful to the Municipality and violates the principle of economy," denounces Elias Vaz.

The problems don't stop there. The councilman also received information that, despite the contract stipulating that Metropolitana would provide the service with its own drivers, Comurg employees were driving the vehicles in one shift. Furthermore, the company's employees were also allegedly responsible for the maintenance of the trucks from both companies. In addition, a video recorded by an employee and sent to the councilman shows Comurg vehicles without wheels and engines.

According to the complaint, the fleet was allegedly 'stripped' and some of the parts were used to replace those of trucks belonging to companies that provide services to the company. “It’s absurd! The company is paid to provide drivers and doesn’t fulfill the contract. The company receives payment for collecting waste and maintaining the trucks, and the work is done by Comurg mechanics. Where is this money going? This is very serious. No one can dispose of public assets like this. A contract that was already detrimental has become a real spree with public money,” states Elias Vaz.

Comurg has been the target of numerous complaints regarding excessive salaries and employees assigned to the Union who receive benefits, such as overtime, at high rates. Complaints made by Elias Vaz led the mayor to decree that no municipal employee should receive a salary higher than his, which is around R$19. The councilman believes that the establishment of the Special Commission of Inquiry (CeI) is necessary to uncover the extent of the irregularities within the company. “The problems at Comurg need to be properly investigated. The City Council cannot stand idly by and pretend nothing is happening,” emphasizes Elias Vaz.
