Eliane responds to JC: "I'm open to being a candidate if that's my party's decision."

Secretary of State for Social Inclusion, Eliane Aquino, denies information published this Wednesday (28) by Jornal da Cidade attributed to her, contrary to her candidacy; "Unlike what was published, I did not state that I do not wish to be a candidate in the elections next October. Regarding the issue involving my affiliation and a possible candidacy, I also did not state "that the lack of affiliation would be a good reason to get rid of this kind of thing". I am aware of my status as a member, and I would responsibly take on the responsibility of being a candidate, if this is the decision of my party," she stated.

Sergipe 247 - The Secretary of State for Social Inclusion, Eliane Aquino, issued, on the afternoon of this Wednesday (29), a statement denying alleged statements attributed to her by Jornal da Cidade, according to which she would have said that she would not be a candidate for elective office in October and that the non-existence of her affiliation in the Electoral Court is "a good reason to be free from this kind of thing".

"Contrary to what has been published, I did not state that I do not wish to be a candidate in the elections next October. When questioned about the matter, I explained that I have never sought to be a candidate and that there is currently no decision on the matter. Regarding the issue involving my party affiliation and a possible candidacy, I also did not state that 'the lack of affiliation would be a good reason to avoid this kind of thing.' I am aware of my status as a party member, and I would responsibly accept the responsibility of being a candidate if that is my party's decision," Eliane Aquino states in the note.

The former first lady also says that, "in addition to the discussions that should take place at the national level and within the PT's Regional Directorate, the definition of candidacies also involves allied political parties and society itself." She also emphasizes that she has been receiving expressions of support for her name for a possible candidacy with "great tranquility."

"I receive the expressions of support or even the mention of my name as a candidate for the Senate with great tranquility. As I have said, I will decide at the right time which path to take. Always asking for calm and serenity, and aware of my responsibility, I will always have the legacy left by Marcelo as a reference," she affirms.

The text from Jornal da Cidade, published in the Periscópio column this Wednesday (29), is as follows: "the former first lady of Sergipe, Eliane Aquino, reiterated yesterday that she does not wish to be a candidate for elective office next October and made it clear that at no time did she say that she would be a candidate.
