Elevator at Recife City Hall falls from the 15th floor.

PE247 - One of the elevators in the Recife City Hall building (PCR) plummeted from the 15th floor of the building, located in the city center, late this Thursday morning (29). At the time of the accident, about 18 people were inside the elevator, but there were no fatalities. The victims received medical attention at the scene and at least six people were reportedly taken to health units. Ambulances from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and the Fire Department were dispatched to the scene. According to initial reports, most of the victims work at the Health Department and were leaving for lunch when the accident occurred. One of the first to provide assistance at the scene was the municipal Health Secretary himself, Jailson Correia.

In a statement, the Municipal Administration Secretariat confirmed the accident and reported that the machine suffered a malfunction, activating the emergency brake. Despite the clarification, the real reason for the problem has not yet been reported. In total, there are six elevators in the PCR building, but employees reported to...
