According to initial reports, most of the victims work at the Health Department and were leaving for lunch when the accident occurred. One of the first to provide assistance at the scene was the municipal Health Secretary himself, Jailson Correia.
In a statement, the Municipal Administration Secretariat confirmed the accident and reported that the machine suffered a malfunction, activating the emergency brake.
