Because of the Civil Police strike, the investigations did not continue and the arrest warrant was not renewed. The four had their temporary arrest ordered by the court on March 4th.
They allegedly set fire to two buses in Palmas, one on February 27th and the other on February 28th. At the time of the fires, the head of the State Criminal Investigations Department (DEIC), Liliane Albuquerque, reported that one of the suspects had confessed that the attacks were related to the police strike and that the crimes were being orchestrated from inside the Palmas Provisional Detention Center (CPPP).
Following the attacks, Mayor Carlos Amastha (PP) announced on social media that he would pay a reward of R$ 15 to anyone who provided information leading to the arrest of those responsible for the crimes. The men's arrest was only possible because one of them denounced the others in order to claim the reward. He denied involvement in the fires and was released after cooperating with the investigation.
