From Infomoney – The average daily hotel rate in Brazil in the first half of 2014 reached R$ 347, 4% higher than the average for the same period of the previous year, according to data from the HPI (Hotel Price Index), produced by Hotels.com.

The city of Rio de Janeiro recorded the highest daily rates during the period, with an average of R$ 523, while in the first half of 2013 the average was R$ 478, a variation of 9%.

On the other hand, in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná, the daily rates were R$ 247, compared to R$ 251 during the same period last year. This was the lowest value recorded by the survey.

In general, among the main reasons for the result are the holding of the World Cup and the devaluation of the Real at the beginning of the year, which, despite the recovery in the following months, was not enough to leave the currency at the same levels as the beginning of 2013. These factors influenced the increase in foreign visitors.
