Edvaldo: I'm not thinking about 2018, nor 2022. My focus is on governing Aracaju.
The mayor of Aracaju, Edvaldo Nogueira, refuted on Tuesday, the 14th, on social media, the speculations surrounding a supposed candidacy for governor in the next elections; he stated that his "sole and exclusive concern is the problems we have to face to rebuild our city"; regarding the 2022 election, he reinforced that "any speculation is a true mirage".
Sergipe 247 - The mayor of Aracaju, Edvaldo Nogueira, once again used social media this Tuesday (14) to refute speculation surrounding a supposed candidacy for governor in the next elections.
He stated that his "sole and exclusive concern is the problems we have to face in rebuilding our city." The mayor emphasized that the 2018 election process will be led by Governor Jackson Barreto. Regarding the 2022 election, he reiterated that "any speculation is a mere mirage."
Below is the mayor's statement in full:
Regarding the speculation about my future in the electoral political arena, I want to state that I have not spoken to anyone about this topic, as my sole and exclusive concern is the problems we must face in order to rebuild our city.
I think it's too early to discuss the 2018 election, and Governor Jackson Barreto is the coordinator and leader in conducting this process.
As for 2022, any speculation is pure illusion. Trying to predict what might happen five years in advance is an exercise I don't waste my energy on, as it's focused on managing Aracaju for the next four years and working tirelessly to rebuild our city and recover the quality of life we've lost in the last four years.
Furthermore, these speculations may be an attempt to create divisions within our group and to divert attention to a secondary issue.
Yes, I am a candidate, but to govern Aracaju for the next 4 years.
I'm not thinking about 2018, nor about 2022; I'm thinking and working towards rebuilding our city.
"Each day has its own agony."
