Tocantins 247 - Candidate for state representative Eduardo Siqueira Campos (PTB) fulfilled his campaign agenda in the Bico do Papagaio region and southeastern Tocantins this past weekend and holiday. The former Secretary of Institutional Relations for the Siqueira Campos (PSDB) government highlighted the creation of three Unitins campuses, two in Bico and one in the Southeast. For Eduardo, the new university campuses mean the end of humiliations and suffering for students who did not have access to free, quality higher education.

"Here in Bico, almost always the young people who grabbed my arm, who wanted my attention, would ask: 'Eduardo, help me, I need to study, I can't afford it and I don't want to drop out.' And the state government made their dream come true and put an end to this humiliation and suffering for the young people who now have the opportunity to study at Unitins without worrying about tuition payments," he said.

For Eduardo, this signifies the redemption of young people and a genuine initiative for the development of the state through education. "Today there are more than 1.500 places available and, with God's grace, more opportunities will open up so that more young people can study without the fear of having to stop halfway, interrupting dreams and the pursuit of fulfillment, a better life that only education provides," he added, recalling that in Congress he fought for the UFT in a multi-campus model and was mayor when he implemented the IFTO in Palmas.

One of Eduardo Siqueira Campos' legacies as Secretary of Institutional Relations (SRI) for the state government, the Unitins campuses in Bico (Araguatins and Augustinópolis) and in Dianópolis (southeast of Tocantins) offer a total of 1.510 places for free access to courses such as Literature, Pedagogy, Nursing, Law, Accounting Sciences and Agribusiness Management.

In December 2013, when he left his position as head of the SRI (International Relations Office), Eduardo requested that then-Governor Siqueira Campos establish university campuses in the interior of the state. "I am attaching to my resignation letter the proposal for the creation of Unitins campuses in Araguatins, Augustinópolis, and Dianópolis, three important centers that were left without UFT (Federal University of Tocantins) infrastructure and, therefore, without free public education," he requested in the letter.

Eduardo visited four cities in the Bico do Papagaio region this long weekend: São Sebastião, Buriti, São Miguel, and Sítio Novo. He also visited Natividade and Arraias, accompanied by the governor and candidate for re-election, Sandoval Cardoso. The events included walks, motorcades, the opening of campaign offices, and meetings where he spoke to residents about his proposals as a state representative.

In São Sebastião, accompanied by Mayor Edivaldo and candidate for federal deputy Vicentinho Júnior, he spoke about the services the State has brought to the municipality and guaranteed that, if elected, he would be the city's representative in the Assembly. "A deputy needs to have knowledge and good relationships. I want to offer you my experience as mayor, federal deputy, senator, and state secretary. I want to continue being the pro-municipal deputy I have always been throughout my career."

In Buriti, Eduardo participated in a walk, inaugurated the "Family 77" committee, and met with residents. He listened to testimonials from regional leaders about his work as secretary, his experience, and his preparedness to be a state representative. "Since I took office as mayor, it was Eduardo who opened the doors of the State to help Buriti and other municipalities in the State with works and services to improve our streets and roads and end the isolation of the Bico region. He has always attended to our requests, which are actually demands from you, the residents," stated Rúbia.

In Sítio Novo, Eduardo participated in a huge motorcade, culminating in a meeting with over 3 people in the city center. There, mayors and council members highlighted Eduardo as the most prepared to hold the position. Jair Farias, mayor of Sítio Novo, opened the event: "I'm not asking for votes for Eduardo because of what he has done, which was a lot for Sítio Novo and Bico, but because of what he will do. If today our residents have access to well-maintained rural roads, streets and avenues without potholes, ambulances, tractors for small farmers, and free access to Unitins [a health center], it's thanks to this government, to Eduardo. And, as a congressman, he is the most prepared, he has legislative and executive experience, and he will do much more alongside Sandoval."

Alongside Eduardo throughout the Bico campaign, state representative Iderval Silva stated that he, the PTB candidate, will be the most efficient in the Legislative Assembly. "When I decided to withdraw from this campaign, I analyzed the situation and concluded that only Eduardo could continue our work. Because of his experience, knowledge, and preparation as a manager, he will be the most efficient in the Assembly," he said.
