PE247 – At the invitation of the Ministries of Planning and Cities, the governor of Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos (PSB), together with his political protégé and mayor of Recife, Geraldo Júlio (PSB), will meet with representatives of the Federal Government, this Wednesday (9), in Brasília (DF), to raise funds that will be invested in urban mobility works. The funds to be released are part of a R$ 50 billion package announced by President Dilma Rousseff (PT), on the 24th, four days after thousands of people took to the streets demanding more efficiency in the provision of public services, with the initial demand being the improvement in the quality of public transport.

The State Government and the Recife City Hall (PCR) have as their main objectives, upon receiving the funds, to invest in the Capibaribe River Navigability Plan, budgeted at R$ 289 million, which has not yet been implemented. Other investments will be applied to the continued execution of works related to the exclusive North/South and East/West bus corridors.

The Metropolitan Ring Road is also among the government's priorities. The project consists of the construction of 77 kilometers (km) of highway, which will connect BR-101 South, near the Dom Hélder Câmara Hospital, to BR-101 North, near the Nobel Brewery. In this case, the objective of the project, which will require an investment of R$ 1,5 billion, is to solve congestion problems on the state's federal highways to make cargo transportation more efficient in the Recife Metropolitan Region.

In addition to Campos and Geraldo Júlio, governors and mayors from Bahia, Ceará, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul and Minas Gerais were invited. In the case of the Pernambuco governor, he is expected to have other meetings of a political nature. Interestingly, the governor spoke, this Tuesday (8), with the governor of Goiás, Marconi Perillo (PSDB) about economic and political issues. It is worth noting that the PSB member has already made a party insertion broadcast in that state, which should be a socialist candidate, the businessman Vanderlan Cardoso (former PMDB), former mayor of Senador Canedo, in the central region of Goiás.
