The state's performance was slightly worse than the country's, which grew 0,1% in the same period, according to data released by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
In the state, agriculture performed well among the sectors, growing by 0,6%, influenced by the bumper soybean harvest that reached 14,8 million tons, a volume 13,7% higher than the previous year's result. The service sector also showed growth, of 1,2%.
The industrial sector performed poorly. The manufacturing industry, which accounts for almost two-thirds of the state's production, fell by 4,2%. The construction sector, which had been strong in recent years, contracted by 4,2%, reflecting the completion of works for the World Cup.
