Doria says he will cut the LGBT, Women, and Racial Equality secretariats.
João Doria Jr., the PSDB candidate for mayor of São Paulo, said he intends to cut a total of seven secretariats, reducing the number of departments in the municipality to 20 if elected; he cited five that would be targeted for cuts: LGBT, Women, Racial Equality, Youth, and People with Disabilities; he promised that he will not "change the policies of these sectors. We just won't have more secretariats."
SP 247 – The PSDB candidate for mayor of São Paulo, João Doria Jr., said this Thursday, the 18th, that he intends to cut seven municipal secretariats if elected, reducing the total number of departments from 27 to 20.
He cited five areas that would be targeted for cuts: LGBT rights, women's rights, racial equality, youth rights, and people with disabilities. He promised that policies would not be altered. "We are not going to change the policies in these sectors. We just won't have any more secretariats," he said.
The idea of the candidate from the PSDB party, who campaigned in the upscale Jardins neighborhood this morning, is to group what were previously secretariats into coordinating bodies and link them to the Mayor's office.
