SP 247 - The mayor-elect of São Paulo, João Doria (PSDB), took advantage of his good relationship with the business elite to resort to a shortcut to expedite the installation of Oi's telephone network in a luxury condominium on the beach of Trancoso, in Bahia, where he and personalities such as the player Ronaldo Fenômeno had homes.

As information These are from Folha de S.Paulo.

"In July 2012, Doria sent an email to James Meaney, then Director of Operations at Oi, to request the service. Meaney had previously been interviewed by Doria, then a businessman, on his TV talk show, "Show Business."

A request to the telephone network operator Telemar/Oi had already been made by the condominium two months earlier, on the eve of its inauguration, but there was no forecast for when the work would be carried out.

In the email to the executive, Doria expressed his dissatisfaction: "This holiday [July 9th] we have almost all the houses occupied and we cannot be without telephone service," said the current mayor.

Doria made it clear in the message that the lack of connection was causing problems for other famous people.

"Our condominium has just been inaugurated in Trancoso, and it includes Ivan Zurita [then president of Nestlé], Nizan Guanaes [advertising executive], Amilcare Dalevo [owner of Rede TV!], Ronaldão [the Phenomenon], Roberto Carlos [singer], Dody Sirena [the singer's manager], and myself, among other businesspeople and personalities who are completely without telephone service in the condominium," he stated.

In the closing remarks, the email has a hint of a request. "Thank you very much for your attention and I hope to see you again soon. Including to thank you," it concluded.

Doria's request traveled like lightning through Oi. In less than 20 minutes, the email landed in the inbox of an employee in the Implementation department for Bahia, with an order from the company's director, José Claudio Gonçalves: "Understand and resolve immediately."

From then on, it only took 15 days for the condominium to have landline telephone and internet services, with the installation of a telephone exchange."
