Documentary about coup begins broadcast on the North Coast of São Paulo.
Other cities in the region and the Paraíba Valley also requested the film "The Process" to be shown in their cinemas; Maria Augusta Ramos' documentary about the impeachment of Dilma Rousseff has won awards in several countries.
By José Roberto Mello, for 247 - Running for 137 minutes, "The Process" has already been seen by over 60 people in four weeks of commercial release across the country. The documentary about the impeachment of President Dilma Rousseff continues to fill movie theaters throughout Brazil.
This Monday, July 2nd, the city of Caraguatatuba will have the opportunity to see the work of filmmaker Maria Augusta Ramos, who narrates the impeachment of Dilma Rousseff. The film features scenes from congressional committees, private meetings of the president's supporters, and street demonstrations, without interviews, commentary, or subtitles, as is characteristic of the director.
Right at the beginning, the film shows excerpts from the famous Chamber session of April 17, 2016, the one that embarrassed the country with surreal speeches and approved the admissibility of the impeachment process against Dilma.
Those who were able to go to the cinema on a Monday at 21:30 pm, in a shopping mall far from the city center, got to see some of the key moments of that period, which culminated in the approval of the impeachment on August 31st.
The broadcast ended shortly before midnight, when those defending democracy ended the transmission with shouts of "Free Lula".
The director, who has already received many requests to screen the film, something that also depends on contractual issues, says that in Mossoró (RN) the population signed a petition for The Process to be shown in cinemas.
In Caraguá, a group of film and democracy enthusiasts negotiated with the filmmaker and the local film management (who resisted), but despite the difficulties, the audience was surprisingly large, and screenings have already been extended to other municipalities on the north coast and in the Paraíba Valley, such as São José dos Campos. In August, The Process is expected to be shown on online platforms.
