Mother's Day in Alagoas will have increased police presence.
Starting this Tuesday, 102 military police officers will reinforce the force patrolling downtown Maceió during the Mother's Day Operation; officers will come from the 1st Radio Patrol Battalion, Traffic Police, and the Cavalry, using foot, motorized, and mounted patrol units; due to the high rates of violence in Alagoas, the goal is to allow the population to go shopping without fear.
Alagoas247 - The increased police presence will begin at 8 am this Tuesday (07) and continue until 15 pm on Saturday (11), when the shops will be open waiting for customers who left buying their mothers' presents until the last minute.
According to the Maceió police commander, Colonel Neuton Boia, motorized policing will also be reinforced in the neighborhoods of Mangabeiras, Jatiúca, Benedito Bentes and Jacintinho, which also have shopping centers and large commercial centers. The numbers regarding the reinforcement of policing in Maceió were presented during a press conference this Monday (06).
According to the Capital Policing Commander, Colonel Neuton Boia, the "Mother's Day" operation aims to ensure that Maceió residents can shop safely and peacefully. "It's a period that sees a large influx of people, making robberies and petty thefts more likely. Our job is to prevent these kinds of actions through the optimized use of our personnel," emphasized the CPC commander.
The officer also highlighted the partnership with other agencies, such as the Municipal Superintendence of Transport and Traffic (SMTT), working alongside the Traffic Battalion; the Municipal Superintendence of Urban Control and Coexistence (SMCCU), through the inspection of street vendors; and the Municipal Guard, acting in the inspection of the commercial center.
The daily police force will consist of 102 officers from the 1st Battalion, the Radio Patrol Battalion, the Traffic Battalion, and the Cavalry, operating through foot patrols, motorized patrols (cars and motorcycles), and mounted patrols. "We will be operating in bus lanes, potential escape routes after crimes, and strategic points in the city center, all with the goal of ensuring that the public can shop safely," reinforced Neuton Boia.
On the Calçadão do Comércio, a tent will be set up, starting this Tuesday (07), that will serve as support for the staff and execution of some procedures, such as the drafting of Circumstantial Occurrence Terms (TCO), if necessary.
