Congressman Galo laments the death of military police officers.

The president of the Human Rights and Public Security Commission of the Assembly, Deputy Marcelino Galo (PT), lamented the deaths of military police officers Everton Oliveira de Santana and Gilberto Lemos Silva Júnior, this morning in Bom Jesus da Lapa; the officers, who were assigned to the 38th Independent Company, were kidnapped and killed during the escape of bandits who attempted to rob the Bradesco and Banco do Brasil bank branches in the city; with this incident, the number of police officers killed in Bahia in 2017 reaches six.

Bahia 247 - The president of the Human Rights and Public Security Commission of the Legislative Assembly of Bahia, deputy Marcelino Galo (PT), lamented, through a press release this Monday (23), the death of military police officers Everton Oliveira de Santana and Gilberto Lemos Silva Júnior, this morning, in Bom Jesus da Lapa. The police officers, who were assigned to the 38th Independent Company, were kidnapped and killed during the escape of bandits who tried to rob the Bradesco and Banco do Brasil bank branches in the city. With this occurrence, the number of police officers killed in Bahia in 2017 reaches six.

“The Human Rights and Public Security Commission of the Legislative Assembly of Bahia, of which I am president, will seek out representative entities of the Military Police and the State Government in order to find a solution to prevent the loss of Military Police officers and ordinary citizens due to violence, as well as to guarantee the right to necessary assistance for the victims' families,” stated Galo, who also advocated for greater participation of the Federal Police in combating robberies and explosions at bank branches.

“We also understand that combating bank robberies and explosions in Brazil requires more effective participation from the Federal Police, given that there are clear signs, in several cases, of organized gangs operating in a coordinated manner, considering the nature of the crimes committed throughout the country. Therefore, I offer my condolences to the Military Police and the families of the victims, public security workers, and assure them that operational measures to identify and arrest the perpetrators of this crime are being taken by the competent authorities,” concluded the parliamentarian.
