DEM congressman appeals and suggests Lula's imprisonment.

Federal Deputy José Carlos Aleluia (DEM-BA) intensified his criticism, arguing that the Public Prosecutor's Office should request the preventive detention of former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva because, according to him, he is "hindering" the investigations of Operation Lava Jato; "He who mixes with pigs eats bran. And Lula created a pigsty at Petrobras. Therefore, it makes no sense for former [Petrobras] director Renato Duque, treasurer João Vaccari Neto, and Lula himself to be free. They are hindering the investigation," said Aleluia; the presence of former President Lula in the new Petrobras CPI, which will be installed this week in the Chamber of Deputies, was defended by opposition deputies and senators.

Bahia 247 - Federal deputy José Carlos Aleluia (DEM-BA) escalated his criticism and argued that the Public Prosecutor's Office should request the preventive detention of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva because, according to him, he is "hindering" the investigations of Operation Lava Jato.

"He who mixes with pigs eats bran. And Lula created a pigsty at Petrobras. Therefore, it makes no sense that former Petrobras director Renato Duque, treasurer João Vaccari Neto, and Lula himself are free. They are hindering the investigation," said Aleluia.

The opposition congressman went further and even said that the Public Prosecutor's Office should extend the charges to Governor Rui Costa (PT), former Governor Jaques Wagner (PT), former Petrobras president Sergio Gabrielli, and even President Dilma Rousseff. "We can't remain with the feeling that those who go to jail are the victims of extortion and never the extortionists," he stated.

The presence of former President Lula at the Petrobras Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI), which will be installed this week in the Chamber of Deputies, was defended by opposition deputies and senators. Among the reasons cited by the congressmen is the fact that representatives of construction companies involved in Operation Lava Jato sought out the former president to avoid the economic collapse of their companies. This Friday, the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office of Paraná requested the reimbursement of R$ 4,47 billion from six companies involved in the corruption scheme at Petrobras.

"These are things that connect with the pressure on the Minister of Justice, who met with lawyers (from the construction company executives) outside of official agendas. There is a whole environment of pressure on the Judiciary, whether at the first instance or within the Supreme Federal Court. It is a structure being mobilized with the intention of suppressing the case," argued the leader of the DEM party in the Chamber of Deputies, Representative Mendonça Filho (PE).
