Member of Parliament says the Board of Directors was blackmailed.

Deputy Ronaldo Medeiros (PT), one of the secretaries of the State Legislative Assembly (ALE), denounced, this Tuesday (3), that the new Board of Directors that is temporarily exercising its functions was blackmailed by deputy João Henrique Caldas (Solidariedade). Medeiros accuses JHC of threatening the current directors if the salaries of the employees of his office and of his parents (JHC), who are employees of the House of Tavares Bastos, were not paid.

Alagoas247 - Before the ordinary session began, the Workers' Party member made this accusation against his colleague to the press. He highlighted that the temporary directors were blackmailed after JHC allegedly discovered that the salaries of his office staff would not be paid, since the employees, including his parents, had not completed the personnel re-registration process, as required by the Board of Directors.

According to Medeiros, JHC threatened to expose all the financial transactions of the current board to the press. "He said he considered everything we are doing illegal," stated the PT congressman.

"I regret that such a young congressman, who preaches moralism, doesn't know how to differentiate between legal and illegal financial transactions. Everything we did was guided by legality," assured Medeiros, who promised to address the accusation in a statement he would make during this afternoon's session.

Negative

JHC has already spoken out about Medeiros' accusation and says that it is nothing more than mere persecution by the other deputies. "Since 2011, I have been showing what is irregular in the Assembly and the accusations made by the deputies are nothing more than pure persecution. Who asked for the Assembly's bank statements?", he argued.

The legislator also denounces new suspicious transactions in the Legislative Assembly's accounts. "On the day the Board was removed, there was a movement of R$ 9 million. On the day the search warrants were executed, R$ 500 was moved."

The acting president of the House, Deputy Flávia Cavalcante (PMDB), reinforced the accusations made by Deputy Ronaldo Medeiros and asked for respect for Deputy JHC. "He contacted me by phone and asked that his parents receive their monthly salary, but they haven't re-registered." She reminded everyone that the Legislative branch has no budget and that there are no irregularities in a request for supplementary funding.

"I'm not going to play the fool for anyone. I have no interest in positions of power and I'm not going to engage in underhanded dealings with public funds. I'm doing my part," Cavalcante emphasized.
