Representative Alan Sanches laments the closure of the UPA (Emergency Care Unit) in the suburbs.

State Representative Alan Sanches (DEM) described the closure of the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) in the Escada neighborhood, in the Salvador railway suburb, as "a Trojan horse from the Health Department to the people of Bahia"; "This is a completely misguided decision. After all, we are dealing with a UPA that provides approximately seven thousand monthly services to the population through the SUS (Brazilian Public Health System), with patients not only from the capital, and this decision proves once again the government's lack of priority for the sector, putting the population's health care at risk," laments Sanches.

Bahia 247 - State deputy Alan Sanches (DEM) described the closure of the Emergency Care Unit (UPA) in the Escada neighborhood, in the Salvador railway suburb, as "a Trojan horse from the State Health Department (Sesab) to the people of Bahia". The unit will be dismantled this Wednesday (28).

"This is a completely misguided decision. After all, we are dealing with an emergency care unit that provides approximately seven thousand monthly services to the population through the Unified Health System (SUS), with patients not only from the capital, and this decision proves once again the government's lack of priority for the sector, jeopardizing the population's healthcare," laments Alan Sanches.

The deputy also warns that although Sesab claims to be following a recommendation from the State Court of Auditors (TCE), what is being requested, according to an official statement from the Court, is not the closure of activities, but only that the contract with the entity that operates the equipment be regularized.

"Therefore, at this moment, instead of aggravating the already existing crisis, the government should open a bidding process so that a company capable of providing assistance and offering the best price to perform the service can be chosen," the deputy emphasizes, reinforcing that the question was raised at the beginning of this year, enough time, according to him, to resolve the impasse.

"What we cannot accept is that a fully equipped unit of such importance closes its doors in this way, and even less that any kind of emergency contract is being considered," criticizes Alan Sanches.
