After losing his father to Covid-19, city councilman changes his mind about isolation.

After losing his father and seeing part of his family infected with Covid-19, Belém city councilman Sargento Silvano (PSD) began to defend isolation. "This is not just a little flu, as Bolsonaro said. The president is lying to the Brazilian people," he stated. The councilman had previously opposed lockdowns. "In 30 days everyone will see that President Bolsonaro was right," he said.

247 - Belém city councilman Sargento Silvano (PSD) changed his mind about dealing with the coronavirus after seeing part of his family infected and losing his father to the disease. The councilman and at least 10 other family members tested positive.

Since the end of March, Silvado had publicly advocated for ending social isolation and reopening businesses in the capital of Pará. On the 27th of that month, he published a text on social media defending the president's position in demanding that governors and mayors reopen businesses. "In 30 days everyone will see that President Bolsonaro was right," he wrote.

In April, the congressman decided to change his tune. "I'm on the side of science, not politicians. I still believe in doctors, until proven otherwise," he said.

Starting on April 20th, the city councilman began to combat Bolsonaro's discourse.

"This is not just a little flu, as Bolsonaro said. The president is lying to the Brazilian people. Bolsonaro has lost my respect! I'm talking about everything my family and I have been suffering these past few days. God have mercy," she posted.
