DEM also wants Eliana Calmon in the Senate.

After the PPS, which is practically appealing to the 'heroine' of the Judiciary, the Democrats (DEM) are also trying to convince her to run for senator; the president of the DEM, José Agripino, reportedly made a proposal to the district deputy of Brasília, Alberto Fraga, who leads the party in the Federal District, for Minister Eliana Calmon to run for senator for the Federal District.

Eliana Calmon, a minister from Bahia on the Superior Court of Justice (STJ), is far from guaranteed an election in 2014, but at least part of her plan to become a 'celebrity' seems to be working. The list of parties wanting to affiliate the judge-turned-politician for next year's election continues to grow.

After the PPS, which is practically appealing to the 'heroine' of the Judiciary, the Democrats (DEM) are also trying to convince her to run for senator. This information comes from journalist Samuel Celestino, editor-in-chief of the Bahia Notícias website.

The former inspector general of the National Council of Justice, who exposed the existence of "many corrupt judges" in the Brazilian judiciary, is using her prominent position as a springboard for a possible political career. Below is Samuel's statement.

The president of the DEM party, José Agripino, reportedly made a proposal to the Brasília district deputy, Alberto Fraga, who leads the party in the Federal District, for Minister Eliana Calmon to run for senator for the Federal District. According to a journalist working in Brasília, speaking off the record, Fraga refused the proposal and later commented that the party already has a candidate in mind and, since Eliana Calmon is from Bahia, she should run for Bahia. The proposal, according to the source, also had a twist: Agripino is a close friend of the current municipal secretary, José Carlos Aleluia, and would like to see him run for the senatorial seat representing the state. Thus, the proposal fell through.
