247 - The leader of the DEM party in the Chamber of Deputies, Representative Mendonça Filho (PE), intends to file a request to annul the testimonies of the president of Petrobras, Graça Foster, and the former president of the state-owned company, José Sérgio Gabrielli, following allegations that the questions had been given to the witnesses beforehand. The two appeared before Congress to speak to the commission investigating allegations against the company.
"I will request that the president of the Joint Parliamentary Inquiry Committee annul these testimonies and summon Graça Foster and José Sérgio Gabrielli again. We need to investigate and hold accountable those who allegedly participated in this setup. The accusation is serious and mentions members of the Presidential Palace, Petrobras, and the Workers' Party. We also need to investigate whether any employee of the Chamber of Deputies participated. We cannot accept this charade that was staged in the CPI," stated Mendonça Filho.
The congressman also intends to suggest summoning the Minister of Institutional Relations, Ricardo Berzoini, to the plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies and to the Oversight and Control Committee; and the Public Security and Combating Organized Crime Committee to speak about the case. The name of Paulo Argenta, an advisor to the ministry, is mentioned as one of those involved in the allegations. The congressman also wants to summon other individuals mentioned in the alleged scheme.
