DEM will request Negromonte's removal from the TCM.

The president of the DEM party in Bahia, José Carlos Aleluia, reaffirmed that he will go to court to request the removal of former congressman Mário Negromonte from the Municipal Accounts Court due to his possible involvement in an alleged bribery scheme in Petrobras contracts; "The people and municipalities of Bahia cannot accept that municipal accounts be audited by someone involved in a R$ 10 billion corruption scheme, the largest in Brazilian history," the Democratic leader justified.

Bahia 247 - President of DEM in Bahia, candidate for federal deputy José Carlos Aleluia reaffirmed this Monday (8) that he will go to court asking for the removal of former deputy Mário Negromonte from the position of advisor to the Court of Accounts of Municipalities (TCM) because of his possible involvement in an alleged scheme of paying bribes in Petrobras contracts, as denounced by the former director of the state-owned company Paulo Roberto Costa.

"Those who want justice are not intimidated by accusations from someone involved in a scandalous corruption scheme that embezzled R$ 10 billion from Petrobras, a company owned by Brazilians," Aleluia stated in response to Mário Negromonte's "unfounded attacks" against him.

Aleluia challenges Negromonte to formally substantiate in court the "empty accusations" he made against him. "Just as I will appeal to the courts for his removal from the TCM, he should also do the same against me, since he is so convinced of what he said."

The president of the Democrats considers it unacceptable to keep Negromonte on the Municipal Accounts Court in light of what has come to light with the plea bargain testimony of the former Petrobras director, Paulo Roberto Costa.

According to Aleluia, the people and municipalities of Bahia cannot accept "that municipal accounts be audited by someone involved in a R$10 billion corruption scheme, the largest in Brazilian history." "My initiative to request Negromonte's removal from the TCM is not of a personal nature, as he tries to insinuate," affirms the Democratic leader.

"It's the attitude of a Brazilian citizen who pays his taxes on time and doesn't accept this squandering of money from a state-owned company," says Aleluia, recalling that, while he was working in Congress, he was "always" "an outstanding and hardworking congressman, unlike Mário Negromonte, a low-ranking parliamentarian with an insignificant tenure" in the Federal Chamber.
