Belo Horizonte mayoral candidate Délio Malheiros (PSD) promised to continue works to prevent flooding affecting the population in the surrounding area; the candidate visited Avenida Bernardo Vasconcelos, in the Northeast region of the capital, one of the areas most affected by flooding during the rainy season; the PSD candidate was accompanied by Mayor Márcio Lacerda (PSB), who, after being questioned about the fact that the current administration has not solved the problem in eight years, stated that it is a large project, with an estimated budget of up to R$ 700 million.

The candidate visited Avenida Bernardo Vasconcelos, in the Northeast Region of the capital, one of the areas that suffers the most from floods during the rainy season, on Monday morning (22).
The PSD member was accompanied by Mayor Márcio Lacerda (PSB), who, after being questioned about the fact that, in eight years, the current administration has not solved the problem, stated that it is a large project that could cost up to R$ 700 million and includes building a linear park in Onça, the most expensive part.
"Regarding the specific issue of flooding, the bidding process to address the problem in the Pampulha and Onça streams, our goal is to launch it in September," he stated.
Lacerda said that Belo Horizonte has 700 kilometers of streams and small rivers. According to him, the city was inadequately planned and today the population pays "a bit of a price for that when we have very heavy rain."
