Defense tries to prevent TV program about Bruno case.
A lawyer fears harm to his client and wants to block the airing of a documentary. The A&E channel program is scheduled to air tomorrow at 23 PM. The network is reportedly refusing to provide the goalkeeper's defense with details of the incident. Is this the right to a defense or the old and unfortunate censorship?
Mines 247 – The A&E cable television channel has announced that the episode “Maximum Penalty: Was goalkeeper Bruno the mastermind behind the death of Eliza Samudio?” will air tomorrow. The program is part of a documentary series on the channel called “Until Death Do Us Part.” However, the broadcast is at risk of being canceled by the Minas Gerais courts.
Goalkeeper Bruno's lawyer, Rui Pimenta, filed a lawsuit requesting the suspension of the episode, arguing that, since he had no prior knowledge of the documentary's content, his client could be harmed. If the program airs, the lawyer intends to take further legal action.

Goalkeeper Bruno Fernandes' defense team has filed a lawsuit seeking to suspend the episode of the series "Until Death Do Us Part," broadcast on the A&E cable television channel, which features the player as the main character. According to lawyer Rui Pimenta, the request is due to the channel's refusal to provide details about the documentary and the potential harm it could cause his client.
The episode titled "Maximum Penalty. Was goalkeeper Bruno the mastermind behind Eliza Samudio's death?" is scheduled to air at 23 PM tomorrow. It deals with the case in which the player is accused of kidnapping, holding captive, and killing his ex-girlfriend. All to avoid acknowledging paternity of the son they had together.
In defense of the goalkeeper, Bruno cannot be "marginalized" on television without having the chance to defend himself. "They (A&E) didn't give us a script of what will happen on the program. They should have done that in advance. It's not right, as it could harm Bruno," said Pimenta.
The broadcaster's website offers its viewers a one minute and 31 second excerpt from the episode. The footage shows one of the main controversies during the Civil Police investigation: the fight between Bruno and Detective Edson Moreira.
The goalkeeper appeared during a public hearing at the Minas Gerais Legislative Assembly last year, denouncing an alleged request for a R$2 million bribe from the police officer. In exchange, the officer would exonerate him and place the blame on his cousin, who was a minor at the time. Just as he did a year ago, Moreira denied the accusation.
"I could get those R$ 2 million in a snap of my fingers, but that's not how things are solved. He even asked what I would think if I found pieces of my daughter scattered around Minas Gerais," said the accused. "He (Bruno) is a monster, a criminal, who had everything in life and threw it all away by trivializing other people's lives," retorted the police chief.
Eliza's mother, Sônia Fátima Moura, 46, is participating in the documentary. She did not give details of her role, as she "agreed not to comment on the program before its airing." "I recorded an interview on the 14th. I only spoke about my daughter's life, nothing more than that. I didn't talk about Bruno," she said.
Argument. According to Rui Pimenta, the request against the airing of the program was made last week in the São Paulo courts. "My son, who is also a lawyer, filed the lawsuit there for me. I hope the broadcast will be canceled. If the program is aired, we will analyze the episode to take further action," he stated.
A&E's press office reported that it has not yet received any notification from the court regarding Bruno's defense request and, therefore, would not comment on the matter.
