'Ciro's statements do not reflect the PSB's position'

The governor of Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos, reacts to attacks from former minister Ciro Gomes who claims that he and opposition candidates Aécio Neves and Marina Silva, who are expected to run for president in 2014, have no proposals; "I disagree with his opinion, that is not the opinion of the party," declared the president of the PSB.

'Ciro's statements do not reflect the PSB's position'

PE247 – The governor of Pernambuco, Eduardo Campos, stated this Monday, the 25th, that the declarations of former minister Ciro Gomes do not reflect the position of the PSB. Last Saturday, the 23rd, Cyrus said that presidential candidates Eduardo, Marina Silva, from Rede Sustentabilidade (launched on the 17th), and Senator Aécio Neves (PSDB) have no proposals to make Brazil develop.

"That's an opinion he's been expressing for some time. It's nothing new. But yesterday he spoke about Dilma (Rousseff), Aécio (Neves), and Marina (Silva). I disagree with his opinion; that's not the party's opinion," declared Eduardo Campos.

In an interview with radio Verdes Mares, Ciro Gomes was ironic and said that President Dilma Rousseff (PT), running for re-election, could win by default. "Eduardo Campos, Aécio Neves and Marina have no proposals, no vision. That's what worries me," he stated.

According to Ciro, the governor of Pernambuco would need more "experience" and "road experience" to try to become president of the Republic, and once again, he spared no criticism of Aécio Neves or Marina Silva, former Minister of the Environment in Lula's government.

"Eduardo doesn't have much experience yet. He doesn't know Brazil. Aécio doesn't know Brazil. Marina Silva represents an ethical negation, a negation of these bad habits, but she doesn't represent the affirmation of anything at all," he declared.

It's not new for Ciro Gomes to oppose Eduardo Campos' candidacy for president. The former governor of Ceará wanted to run for president in 2010, but had to settle for Dilma Rousseff's candidacy. Now, Ciro is reinforcing his position in favor of the PT (Workers' Party) in the upcoming presidential elections.

The governor of Pernambuco denied speculation that there was a movement within the PSB party to remove Ciro Gomes from the party. "The party is democratic, people have the right to debate. This debate will take place at the right time and in the right forums, which are the ones who decide," Campos stated at the event "Northeast: How to Face the Pains of Growth," part of the "Dialogues of the Capitals" debate series, promoted by Carta Capital magazine.
