Pernambuco 247 - The final debate among candidates for Governor of Pernambuco was marked by pressure against the PSB candidate and leader in the polls, Paulo Câmara. In the debate hosted by Rede Globo, candidates Armando Monteiro Neto (PTB) and José Gomes (PSOL) directed all their questions to the socialist.
The tensest moment of the debate, held on Tuesday night (30), was when José Gomes questioned the origin of the R$ 8 million donations made to the PSB campaign. As Câmara did not directly answer the question, José Gomes challenged him to present the list of campaign donors on Wednesday afternoon.
Throughout the debate, Armando again questioned the political "backing" the socialist would have if elected. Câmara retorted, saying that he would have the backing of "the people's support" and that he would not "engage in backroom deals with senators you (Armando) admire, like Collor and Sarney," he fired back.
Armando questioned his opponent about the partnerships maintained by the State Government with the Federal Government. The socialist acknowledged the support given by the government of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), but stated that this assistance had decreased under the government of President Dilma Rousseff. The PTB candidate called this "unfair" considering the volume of resources that have been transferred by the Federal Government to the state administration in recent years.
