Tocantins 247 - Already preparing for the next elections, the Social Liberal Party (PSL-TO) held its first major membership drive on Saturday the 18th. The party, now well-established, has been gaining significant ground on various fronts and is betting on growth to expand even further in politics.

With the participation of over a thousand people, the meeting was attended by several political leaders, such as the mayor of Palmas, Carlos Amastha (PP), who highlighted the importance of the party both for his administration and for Tocantins politics. "The PSL is a party that treats politics as a serious matter, with responsibility, with ideology. And that's what Brazilian politics needs," he said.

Recently elected as a state representative for the party, Cleiton Cardoso said that the PSL is a party that governs for those who need it most and gives opportunities to everyone. Before, I was just a sympathizer, and after joining the party I had the opportunity to be a city councilor and now to be elected representative," he commented.

The two city councilors from the party in the capital reinforced the discourse that the party is organized and preparing to go further. "We organized ourselves simply, but our composition today shows how much further we can go," said Adão Índio. "The PSL wants to invite people who believe they can change their city and who are committed to doing more and more for the voter," added Gerson da Mil Coisas.

Eliane Campos, regional president of PSL Mulher (Women's PSL) and also president of the Palmas Cultural Foundation, spoke about the importance of women's participation in politics. "This meeting serves to also seek the participation of women so that in 2016 we can make a difference with female participation in the electoral process."

The metropolitan president and general secretary of the party, Lucas da Lince, highlighted that the party's membership drive is focused on the 2016 and 2018 elections. "In 2016 we will grow even more, and in 2018 we will consolidate, unifying support with a focus on a seat in the Federal Chamber."

Also present at the event were the metropolitan vice-president of the PSL, Rui Simon, the metropolitan president of PSL Mulher, Maria de Jesus, and the alternate city councilor of Palmas, Irmão Jairo.

Authorities such as the Municipal Secretary of Social Integration and Consumer Protection, Tiago Andrino, the Secretary of Education of Palmas, Danilo de Melo, the Secretary of Economic Development and Employment of Palmas, Cleide Brandão, the councilman for the PSC party, Pastor João Campos, and the rector of the Federal University of Tocantins - UFT, Márcio da Silveira, also attended the meeting.
