With his sights set on the presidency, Eunício sells his differences to Renan.

Senator Eunício Oliveira (PMDB-CE), the leading name in the race for the presidency of the Federal Senate, has been using the strategy of distancing his image and ideas from those of the current president, Renan Calheiros (PMDB-AL); he reportedly told President Michel Temer and parliamentarians that, if elected, he will manage with the goal of rapprochement and reconciliation between the branches of government.

Ceara 247 – The first name put forward and favorite for the presidency of the Federal Senate, Senator Eunício Oliveira (PMDB-CE), has used the strategy of distancing his image and ideas from those of the current president, Renan Calheiros (PMDB-AL).

In conversations with members of other parties, he has said he is not "part of Renan's group." He has told President Michel Temer and parliamentarians that, if elected, he will lead a government aimed at fostering closer ties and reconciliation between the branches of government: Legislative, Executive, and Judicial.

Behind the scenes, some claim that Renan and Eunício are estranged due to disagreements caused by agendas defined by the senator from Alagoas. A concrete example of this was Calheiros' attempt, defying the Judiciary, to put the anti-corruption package to a vote in the plenary.
